How to Add Service Codes, Units, and Amount to a Note

This knowledge base article guides on managing the service codes, units, and charge amounts on the notes.

 

Add Service Codes to the Notes  

This knowledge base article guides on managing the service codes, units, and charge amounts on the notes.

 

The following notes allow you to add service codes from the pre-configured list. Once you add service codes to the notes, you can change the number of units and charge amount.

 

  • Quick Note
  • Case Management
  • Couples/Family Therapy
  • Progress Note
  • SOAP Note
  • Complete Evaluation

 

In this article, the Progress Note has been considered as an example.

 

Once the service codes and the billing rates are configured at the practice level, you can add the service codes within the notes, change the units, and the charge amount as needed. 

 

In the Service Codes section, click the Enter button as depicted in the screen below:

 

 

 

 

The Service Code screen appears as shown below. You can select the pre-configured service codes from the dropdown. 

 

As you select the service code from the dropdown, the pre-configured units and charge amount will automatically appear on this screen. However, you can modify these details as needed.

 

 

In the following screen, locate the Units column. You can modify the units as desired.

 

 

As you modify the units, the charge amount automatically changes based on the number of units you modify.

 

 

You can still modify the charge amount as desired as shown in the screen below:

 

 

After you modify the units and charge amounts, click Done. You can see the following screen with the updated number of units for each service code.

 

 

 

View Service Codes on the Invoice

When you generate/print the invoice, the service code details appear on the invoice as shown below: 

 

 

 


View Service Codes on the Compiled Notes

Service code details appear on the compiled note after you compile it.

Service codes are displayed in a standardized format on all compiled notes:

[Code] - [Description] | Unit(s): [#] | Modifier(s): [code, code]

  • If no modifiers exist, the modifier section does not appear.
