Overview
This article explains how to prescribe multiple medications at once.
You can select multiple medications, add them to the cart, and then enter required details such as days supply and refills before sending them to the pharmacy.
Important Notes
⚠️ E-prescribing Availability
E-prescribing in ICANotes+ is available only within the United States. This feature is not supported for users accessing the system from outside the U.S.
ℹ️ Medication Sources

Medications box: Displays only the medications prescribed or discontinued within the current note.

Compiled note: Displays all active medications for the client, regardless of when they were prescribed.
🔒 Permissions
Only authorized users can prescribe medications.
Prescribe Multiple Medications at Once
The medications can be prescribed from any note. In this knowledge base article, the steps are provided for the progress note.
Step 1: Open the Medications section
- Navigate to the client’s chart.
- Open the progress note.
- Go to the Part 2 tab.
- Locate the Medications box.
Note: The Medications box is visible only to users with eRx access.

Step 2: Open the Medication List
- In the Medications box, click Enter.
- The Medication List tab opens and displays medications and allergies.


Step 3: Add medications to the cart
- Click Manage Medication(s).
On the Manage Medication List screen, select a medication.

appears next to each available format.

Click the cart icon for the desired format.

Step 4: Add medications to the cart
- After adding medications, click the cart icon (with the numbered badge) in the bottom-left corner.
- In the expanded cart view, enter the required details:
- Days Supply
- Refills
- Click Minimize to return to the medication list, if needed.
Step 5: Review medication list and send to pharmacy
After you add the medications to the cart, the cart icon appears with a numbered bubble with total medications selected.
Open the medication cart.

All selected medications are displayed.
Review and update details as needed:

Quantity
-
Form
-
Refills
-
Fill Date
-
Pharmacy
-
Click Send to Pharmacy.
