A new Custom Fields option has been added to patient Demographics. This option allows for the creation of five custom fields that can be labeled according to the needs of the group. The labels for these fields can be set by a Group Administrator in Group Level Settings and Directories > Formats. Each custom label is limited to 40 characters, and text contained within each field are limited to 999 characters. These custom fields are included as options when exporting from the Clinical/Demographic Search report.
Setting up Custom Fields
To label the custom fields in Demographics, Group Administrators will start by navigating to the Formats tab in Group Level Settings & Directories.
Each custom field can have a unique label. Place your cursor into each custom field and set a title. You're limited to 40 characters. If you exceed the character limitation, you'll receive the following error message:
Clear = Clear the entered text. This will revert the field to a blank state.
Revert = Revert the entered text to what it was before (undo)
Edit = Edit the entered text and reduce the length by the stated number of characters
Once a custom field is labelled, it is set. These custom labelled fields will appear within the patient's Demographics.
Click Custom Fields to open the pop-out window.
Users can free-text content into each of the five custom fields. To save and close, click outside of the open pop-up window (click anywhere else on screen). Your changes will automatically save.
Click Continue to close Demographics when finished.
Custom fields are included as exportable options in the Clinical/Demographic Search report as well. Once the report has run, click Export, then in the Settings pop-up window select from among the Custom Field options.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What happens if I change the label of a Custom Field?
A: If you change the label of a custom field, the new label will be displayed accordingly in the Custom Fotes pop-out in patient Demographics. Any text already entered into that custom field when it had the original label, will remain intact.
