Using the AIMS Scale

 

The AIMS Scale may be found:

In the Complete Exam in the Mental Status Exam.

Within the Prescriber Note through the Mental Status Exam Button.

Within The Nursing Note in the AIMS button.

 

 

How to access the AIMS Scale:

From the Complete Assessment: go to the Mental Status Exam tab. The AIMS button will be near the bottom of the textable field.

   

 

From the Prescriber Progress Note: Click the 'Mental Status Exam' button.  

 

 

The AIMS button will be toward the bottom of the page, below the textable field. Return to the main note from the Mental Status Exam by clicking on 'Prog Note, part 1' or 'Continue to Prog Note, part 2' located at the top or bottom of the right-hand side of the screen.

 

 

 

 

From the Nursing Note: The AIMS Scale has a dedicated button.

 

 

 

 

Using the AIMS Scale:

Regardless of which note you use to access the AIMS Scale, the content will be the same. 

Answer the questions in the blue box with regard to your patient. The options in the green box will allow you administrative control of the AIMS Information. 

 

 

 

 

A. The Back button will take you back to your note.

B. The Print button allows you to print the AIMS Scale.

C. Checking this box will populate the content of the AIMS Scale into your note. If this box is not checked, there will be a line entered indicating that the AIMS Exam was performed. There will also be a prompt asking if you would like to always populate this content.

 

 

D. The Mark All Norman button allows the program to enter None or No for all questions on the exam. This is the default, so you would only need to use this to return previously entered answers back to None         or No.

E. The See Instructions Button will allow you to review the instructions for using the AIMS Scale. Click the Go back to AIMS button to return to the AIMS Scale.

 

 

F. The Set /Stop Reminders button will allow you to access the Reminders section of the chart to either set or stop a reminder to perform the AIMS Exam. The Reminder will be set to you via the Messaging Center.

 

1. The Reminder type will be pre-populated, you can change this is you would like.

2. Select the Recipient of the Reminder (typically this ill be yourself).

3. Set the Date you would like the reminder to be sent/received.

4. Set up a repetition for the reminder, such as every 2 weeks.

5. The Subject of the message will be pre-populated, you can change this if you would like. 

6. Enter any text you would like the message to contain.

7. Linking to the patient will let you know which patient you need to perform the AIMS Exam on.

8. You can set up a Custom Button to automatically enter any text you would like into the message. (see our Custom Buttons Article here.)

Once you have entered your Reminder information Click Save. If you decide you do not wish to save your reminder, click Cancel. Both option will direct you to the Reminders page. Click Back to return to your note.

 

 

G. The Set Due Date button allows you to apply a date when the AIMS Exam is next due. Enter the date and click OK.

 

 

If you elect to set a Due Date, it will populate above the button and on the Chart Face:

 

 

 

 

H. The Turn Off Old AIMS Monitoring button will disable AIMS Monitoring for the patient.

 

 

How the AIMS Exam is documented in notes:

When the box is checked to include the results of the AIMS Exam in the note, this is how that information will appear (shown in a Complete Evaluation):

 

 

When results are not included, a comment stating that the AIMS Exam was performed will populate.

Each time you perform the AIMS Exam, the results are recorded in the AIMS Log located in the Logs Tab on the Chart Face.
