Custom Value Lists allow group administrators to manage the content lists for certain fields in progress notes, such as the Follow Up/Return Visit dropdown and the Time Spent values. This article will outline steps for group administrators updating values in each available custom value list in ICANotes.

To access Custom Value Lists, navigate to the More tab in Group Level Settings & Directories.

Time Spent with Patient

To modify the list of durations for Time Spent with Patient, simply place your cursor into the text field and begin typing.

The text field is editable, and all values entered will be automatically sorted alphabetically (A-Z) when displayed within the note work areas. To add a new line, place your cursor in the field and hit the Enter key on your keyboard. When finished you can click anywhere outside of the field to save your work, or click on another tab in Settings and Directories. Your changes will take immediate effect (no logging out and back in required).

Follow Up / Return Visit

Within the Follow Up / Return Visit tab you can add, sort, and hide existing and new custom values.

Click  and start typing in the Custom Value field. When finished click  to commit it to the list.

All values can be reordered by clicking the   arrow icons to move a value up or down the list. To hide a value from the list entirely, click the   hide checkbox.

Custom added values can also be deleted by clicking the red   icon to the right of the value name.

When clicking into the Return Visit field in a progress note, the Select Custom List Value pop up will appear, allowing the user to make a selection that will populate in the field.

Answer: Please have your Security Administrator reach out to ICANotes Support to disable this functionality and return to the prior setting:

Question: I want to be able to enter in a custom date in the Return Visit/Follow Up field. How can I do that in a custom value list?
Answer: Our recommendation is to create a custom value, such as "Date", to select in the work areas of the note, then adding the actual date from the finished note.

Start by clicking Add, then entering "Date:" into the custom value field. Click Save when finished.

When adding the Return Visit/Follow Up to your progress note, choose the "Date:" option.

It will appear within the field as:

After compiling your note, you can type the custom return date into the finished note.

Please note that this should only be done once the note is finished, as edits made in this area will not update the work areas within the note.
