Firefox, Chrome, Edge (10166 build or newer), Opera, or IE11+
Will it work on a Mac?
At this time, the Remote Desktop Connection software available for Mac does not support the mapping of serial ports, so it cannot work. You may purchase a computer running one of the supported versions of Microsoft Windows listed above.
I already have a Topaz tablet. Will it work with ICANotes?
The signature pad functionality of ICANotes is designed only to work with model 462 BSB pads. It will not work with any other pad.
My antivirus/internet security software identifies the installer as a Trojan/virus. Is it safe to run this installer?
Some security programs will falsely identify our installer as malware. As long as you have downloaded the software from our website, it is safe to install. Here’s some more information about our installer: It is built using a compiled autoIT script. It first sets a registry key to force COM25, then installs the USB Serial driver, and then finally installs an updated ICANotes RDP file to the desktop.
My antivirus/internet security software won’t let me run the installer.
Please consult the documentation for your security software to temporarily disable it until you’ve run our installer. Don’t forget to re-enable it when you’re done.
After installing, I see an error message that “This program might not have installed correctly”. What is this?
This is a feature of Windows called Program Compatibility Assistant. It is just a warning, and can be safely ignored.
I’m seeing an error message about the COM port when I try to sign. I know that it’s plugged in and I’ve installed the driver. What else could be the problem?
Check in the Device Manager that the COM port is set to COM25. You can do this under the Ports section. Right click on USB Serial Port and go to Properties. Click Port Settings, and then Advanced. Make sure the COM port number is set to COM25. You may see a warning about the port being in use. If you are certain that some other device on your system iis using ths COM port number, then call ICANotes support and ask them to change the COM port for your account.
“Unable to open\\.\COM25. Either it doesn't exist or it is in use by another program.” (aka Ghost Devices)
I installed the software that came with the tablet, even though I wasn’t supposed to. What do I do now?
Using Device Manager, go to Ports. Right click on USB Serial Port and then choose Uninstall. Now unplug the tablet and reboot your computer. Proceed with the installation as outlined above.
I ran the installer and plugged it in, then I got a message about the driver not being installed. What should I do?
Unplug the signature pad, then run the Installer again.
