E-Prescribing in ICANotes+
Overview
E-Prescribing (eRx) in ICANotes+ allows providers to electronically prescribe medications, manage medication lists, and process refill requests. This guide outlines the setup process and key functionalities.
Step 1: Determine Eligibility for E-Prescribing
Only users with the correct subscription plan can access eRx. The following plans allow e-prescribing:
✅ Full-Time Prescribing Plan
✅ Part-Time Prescribing Plan
✅ Support eRx (requires an active clinician with a prescribing plan)
✅ eRx Administrator (for administrative support)
The Support eRx and eRx Administrator roles should not be assigned to Full-time or Part-time Prescribers or Non-prescribers.
These roles are intended only for users with the following subscriptions: Staff, Case Manager, Intern, or Paraprofessional.
To modify roles or subscriptions:
- Go to Settings > Account Management.
- Click Edit next to the user's name to update their role.
- If the user is not yet added, click Invite User to send an account invitation.

Step 2: Set Up E-Prescribing for a Provider
- The practice owner or an existing prescribing clinician must initiate the setup.
- Follow the Provider eRx setup instructions.
Step 3: Set Up E-Prescribing for a Staff User
- Ensure a prescribing clinician is already set up in the system.
- Follow the Staff eRx setup instructions.
