Clinical Messaging

Clinical Messaging

Clinical Messaging

This is used by a clinician or office/administrative staff to document any type of contact (contact notes) with the patient or patient's family members, i.e., request a refill, new appointment, etc.

Note:  There is no place to record service or diagnosis codes.

1. From the Chart Face, click the  button.

2. The Clinical Message window will open.

3. Start building the message on the left side. Each area can be filled in by a dropdown menu or free texting into the field.

Once the areas that you wish to use are filled in, click the  button to move to the yellow message field.

4. Optional: Do you want to document the patient's mental state?

Clicking the  button will open to the Mental State window.

5. There are shortcut keys on the top right and bottom right that you can use to enter words/phrases into the yellow message area.

6. The contact number is easily able to be put into the message by using the  button by the number. The Patient Numbers and Patient Contacts pulls from Demographics. The Caller field can be free texted in if desired.

The following message was created by clicking two buttons.

7. If you would like to create a standard message, create a custom button.

8. If the caller calls requesting a refill and this has been called in, you can click the  button in the bottom left to go to the Rx Called In form.

This can be filled out like the Clinical Message Form using the left column and Patient/Pharmacy numbers as desired. Once finished, you can click the  button to finish the note or click the  button to return to the Clinical Message Form.

Don't forget to use custom buttons if you would like to create a standard form for questions that you ask the caller when refilling an appointment.

9. Once done documenting the contact's request/information, click the  button.

10. This will bring you to the Finished Note screen where the date and time will show. You also have the option to electronically sign if set up for this functionality.

11. If the message was for someone other than you, from the Finished Note screen you can forward the message to another user. Simply click the  button to send as internal mail.

A New Message window will populate already associated with the patient and with the text in the field. Fill out the To, Priority (optional), and Subject field. Click the  button to send to the clinician.

12. On the Chart Face, the Clinical Message will show.
